Planning for Spring: House Edition

Unfortunately I don't have any cool recipes or DIYs to share this week. Whomp whomp. Some days recipes turn out right after a try or two, and some days you just work on a cocktail recipe for 3 hours and can't get it right, i.e. last Saturday. So we're switching gears and talking about the house.

This weekend's weather (almost 60degrees!!) got me all ready to ditch my winter coat and plan for Spring. I'm excited for nice weather in the city and enjoying my house and backyard space. I moved in July of last year, and I was overwhelmed (to say the least) and it was extremely hot and humid (to say the least, again) so I have all the hype for Spring. I thought I'd throw together a little list of some of the goals I have for the house in the upcoming months...

  • Stain kitchen pantry and shelves.
  • Paint bed frame in extra bedroom.
  • Buy large plant for corner in living room.
  • Finish backyard area, i.e. put together outdoor loveseat, hang lights, figure out a higher fence situation, get outdoor rug, fill backyard with plants (that I'll ultimately kill, preemptive sorry to those plants).

Around Here

I made it through a very stressful weekend and life feels good.

And honestly now that's all over, I'm just trying to relax and get together with people and enjoy the weather until it turns to freezing cold and winter for the next 4 months. Recently I've been making some financial moves to get myself on a better path. Trying to schedule happy hours and (hopefully) a Friendsgiving celebration. Everything feels pretty calm right now and I'm perfectly okay with that.

Around Here (& Peeks of My New House)

Like I said in this previous post, I moved (yet again). This time the move was stressful and one of the furtherest moves I've had and honestly, I'd like to just erase that day from my memory.

But I'm in a whole house and I'm excited.
I'm in a new city and I'm excited.
Everything still feels a little new and what I'm not use to and I'm excited.

The end of summer has been busy for me. Had a few beach trips, had a friend in town, had people come stay with me. I'm trying to get the most out of this new experience, but also trying to get this house together and situated. I don't have A/C (nor did I in my last place), which isn't a huge deal to me but makes moving furniture and hanging art tiring with the intense heat/humidity combo we've been having this summer. And as much as I never want to wish my summer away, I'm starting to feel a little longing for chillier days.

But things are getting done, slowly but surely. I've got a list of projects to get done around the house, which includes: paint the front door (!!!!!!!), get extra bedroom in order, hang everything in my bedroom, clean and set up back deck, stain my pantry and kitchen shelves, buy a new rug and two upholstered chairs for my dining room... So looking forward to having all those things done in the near future (and maybe wishing for a little more motivation to get make things happen).

I'm ready to make memories in this house. <3
