Recent Finds

I've been trying to make an effort to get to flea markets when I have a free Sunday to myself (and not feeling hung over). I often forget how much I love spending a few hours outside wandering through the aisles and looking at people's junk. Here's a little glimpse at a couple things I picked up recently.

  • Midcentury modern ottoman with removable top.
  • Bunny nesting dolls.
  • Gold embroidery scissors.

Flea Market Successes.

Part of the fun about flea markets is, they're hit or miss. Sometimes you make out like a bandit, and sometimes your bags are still empty. This past weekend, my mom discovered an indoor flea market on 9th and Spring Garden (Philadelphia) that we knew we needed to check out. I was almost through the first go around with nothing when I found some gems.

Two little jars with these floral tops= in love. Having figured out what I want to do with them, but still loving them.

We also have been searching for the perfect drink glasses for our bar, and I found these little babies. Set of four for $15. I love how different they are. And then they're is this...

This might be one of my best finds recently. My mom always had a cedar chest in her bedroom and I always loved the way it smelled. Once we moved into our apartment and needed storage for bed linens, I started keeping an eye out for hope chests. I quickly realized that most hope chest are very large and clunky, very early American. When I found this one, it seemed the perfect size and very mid-century modern. It's my new love.

Flea Market/Thrift Store Finds

Sadly, T has been having more luck lately then I have been when it comes to finds. Between the place across from our apartment, Columbus, and this other flea market in town, he's been growing his record collection quite a bit.

These obviously are my little finds. Look just like my kitties.

And the grand finale would be this little beauty. Works pretty fantastically and T carried all the way through town to get it home. We were pretty excited to get it going last night while we had dinner.

What have you found lately?

This Weekend's Finds

It's been a pretty long while since I've found anything decent out thrifting. I went out when we were down the shore and everything just seemed to be over priced and just not perfect. To limit myself, I've been running through a list in my head when I find something I may want.

  • Is the price good?
  • What do I plan to do with it? Use it? Display it? Revamp it?
  • Would I be able to find this somewhere else cheaper down the line?

This was the first weekend that T&I were home with little plans since we moved in. I knew I wanted to travel over to the Columbus Flea market in New Jersey and we found this indoor flea market literally across the street from our apartment. That's probably going to end poorly...

These little beauties made the cut for this weekend. A vintage thermos, which plans to live on top of our high cabinets, came from the indoor flea market across the street along with that vintage floral sheet in the background. The little Pyrex bowl matches the other bowl I have and seemed like a good size for veggies and side dishes. The wooden typeset numbers are our apartment number and I'm in love with them. Everything was really pretty affordable.

These are what T ended up finding. In the hopes of building our record collection, he has started looking at records when I drag him along to flea markets and thrift stores. It's actually pretty exciting for me because he has something to look at now and it doesn't make me feel so bad making him go with me. He was a good sport all weekend.

Find anything good lately? I'd love to see!
