Around Here

I've been spending a lot of time trying to appreciate this little apartment that I call home. My previous apartments came with character and beauty. Exposed brick and beams, completely new kitchen, huge windows, and 15 foot ceilings. I loved them, but they came beautiful and then I threw my things in and made it my own. But this apartment, it took work to make it feel like home. And I've never been happier. It feels completely and utterly like my home. And that's such an accomplishment and I'm thrilled.

I love you little home. <3

Around Here in July

Just a little update of my apartment. Things still need to be hung on the walls. I'm still on the hunt for a few key pieces of art and some more decorative things to fill up space, but I'm trying not to rush the process. Honestly, I'm in love with this little home. It's quirky. It has huge windows and old floors. The kitchen is super kitchy, but I'm kind of in love. Overall, so happy I found this little gem. Can't wait to make some memories here.

Around Here in June

It's been a whirlwind of a weekend. Friday night we moved a ton of boxes. Saturday we moved furniture in the morning and then settled in unpacking box after box. Sunday and Monday were spent organizing and getting things away, but it's actually starting to feel like a home around here.

Tomorrow morning I'm getting on a plane to fly to New Orleans for a mini vacation/road trip with a college friend. I'm so outrageously excited to get away, have some quality lady time, and sweat my face off in NOLA. I'm thrilled for summer. It's going to be great.

PS: I got my first NatureBox in the mail today! Everything that I've tried has been freaking delicious and I'm so happy to have them with me to take on my travels!

January Around Here

Have you ever felt like you just need a do-over? That's kind of how January has felt for me.

It started out great. My birthday came and went with a healthy dose of celebrating and good times. And then everything just started feeling...hard. Getting up in the morning was hard. Focusing at work was hard. Thinking up new DIYs was hard. Even figuring out what I wanted to eat for dinner was hard. I was in a funk, which I think a lot of people find themselves in around this time of year. It's cold out. The days are still short. Things feel stagnant and unmotivating.

For me, the only way to shake this kind of funk is to think towards the future. I'm a person who loves change. I thrive off of it. I was never a person who fell into a routine or liked doing the same thing day after day. I like to switch things up because it makes me feel more alive and present in my own life.

So I've been thinking a lot about the future and what I want life to look like in a week from now, a month from now, a year from now. Many things currently feel very up in the air, which is making me pleasantly anxious about the future and what it will look like professionally, personally, blog-wise, and living-wise. This type of looking ahead is the only way to see past my current funk and trudge along. Push through until something changes, and then my outlook will begin to shift. I'll go back to feeling confident and present in my life. Change is a good thing. It keeps me grounded and moving forward.

Does anyone else feel similarly about change? I know there are a lot of change-haters out there!

Guys, it's November (?!!?!?) How did that happen so fast? I really don't understand.

Earlier this week Tim asked me to start taking down the Halloween decorations and while walking through Target yesterday, we stumbled upon all the Christmas stuff. I know it's so early. I know it's not anywhere near Thanksgiving yet. I know we will be in Florida in 2 weeks and the weather won't even resemble Fall/Winter. But we purchased our first 2013 Christmas ornament and talked about the few Christmas presents we already purchased. It was darling.

Have a great weekend! I'll be attending a masquerade birthday party this weekend, and you better bet I bought that cat mask to wear. You'll have to check instagram for some photos!
