Sunday Thoughts

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you're reading this post-brunch. I hope you rolled out of bed at noon, threw on some pants and a little mascara, and crawled yourself someplace great to eat french toast and bacon. Maybe a bloody mary too. And now you're back home and considering a nap on the sofa. Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day, so I'm forever grateful that brunch means I can eat my favorite things without having to get out of bed before 11am.

I've been house/petsitting this past week and as much as I love the change from my normal routine, I'm ready to be home with the kitties and making a mess in my own space. But changing up my life always leaves me with a jolt of creative energy that I'm thankful for. I've got a notebook full of things to concoct for you! In the meantime, here's some things from the Interweb:

Sunday Thoughts

Hi! How have you been? I know I haven't been checking in here as much as I should be. We are somehow almost finished the first month of 2016 and it's just been whizzing by me. I don't know how that has happened, but since it's 10 degrees here in Philadelphia, I can't say I'm complaining. I'm dreaming of warmer Spring days right about now. But, winter invites the opportunity to stay in on Sunday mornings. It's too cold to go to brunch or run errands. It's "stay in bed until noon drinking tea and attempting to read but then end up binge watching Arrested Development for the third time" weather. Brrrrr....

In the meantime:

Sunday Thoughts

Hello friends! Sundays in Fall might be my favorite. There's something about layering up and walking to brunch or cuddling up on the sofa with a mug of hot cider and binge watching America's Test Kitchen that just seem like a perfect ending to a weekend. I hope your hangover isn't too strong. And I hope you have someone to make you dinner if it is.

Here some tidbits from the around the web:

Sunday Thoughts

I hope you woke up at noon to your clothes from last night balled up on the floor and lipstick remaining on your lips. I hope you stumbled to brunch with friends where there was endless coffee and bloody mary's and breakfast sandwiches. Some Sundays, it's nice to wake up calmly and make tea at home and relax. But every once and a while, you should wake up like a mess from the night before, head foggy, and eat all the eggs. Because life is short folks.

Here's some bits from around the interweb:

  • Thinking about the difficult balance between embracing the hustle and embracing the anti-hustle.
  • What Makes a Great Cookbook: I've been a lover of everything Joy the Baker for a long time now. Very interested in what she has to say, and more importantly, how she says it. Her voice is hella interesting to me.
  • I bought this rug in pink and I'm completely in love. Feeling good about the house decisions I've been making lately.
  • I've been thinking about making some kind of hand pies lately. Look how good these look by Alana Jones-Man?!
  • An interesting write-up by Lovely Indeed about Growing Your Blog. Really hoping to pull the funds together to attend Alt in the near future.
  • I feel like I don't own enough glittery shoes and I'm itching for these glittery boots.

Sunday Thoughts

Life is a funny thing. It's up and down and all over the place. Just when you think things are going in the direction you predicted, the driver takes a hard right and throws you up against the car door. But that's how it goes and we all bounce back, even when it feels like we might not make it. That all sounds very cryptic. Sorry about this.

When you're reading this I'll be finishing a mini vacation with some friends down the shore. I have a feeling that's going to do a lot for my mindset. Reminding myself: Happiness is a choice. <3

Here's some bits from the internet I'm into:

  • Don't Drink and Buy: just some stories of goofy stuff people order online when they're drunk. I'm glad this isn't a habit of mine, but still made me laugh quite a bit.
  • I'm thinking it's time for another pair of BonLook glasses, because three pairs just isn't enough. And these are pink!
  • Had an odd moment this week where I was reading this beautiful piece, When I'm Gone, at work and crying the day after I watched The (Dead Mothers) Club on HBO Now and sobbed at home on the sofa. Having a week where I'm feeling all the feels.
  • Design*Sponge is running an essay contest with the theme "home." I especially loved this piece. And the winner was just simply gorgeous.
  • Just ordered a new engineer print for my dining room that I'm stoked about.
  • This hat brat post made me excited about transitioning my hats into fall. I always think of them as a summer accessory.
  • Really trying to embody this Mindy Kaling quote:

"People's reaction to me is sometimes, 'ugh, I just don't like her. I hate how she thinks she is so great.' But it's not that I think I'm so great. I just don't hate myself. I do idiotic things all the time and I say crazy stuff I regret, but I don't let everything traumatize me. And the scary thing I have noticed is that some people really feel uncomfortable around women who don't hate themselves. So that's why you need to be a little bit brave." –Mindy Kaling
