Favorite "Treat Yo-Self" Products

Bubble Bars and Bath Bombs. These are by far my favorite things to use when I need to relax and clear my head in the bathtub for a while. As someone with sensitive skin that's prone to dryness with other bath products, these don't leave my skin dry or feeling like I need to rinse off afterwards. Every one I've tried (which has been many) has smelled great and I'm just a sucker for a pink bath. My favorite bubble bar is the French Kiss and favorite bath bomb is the Sex Bomb (but I'm dying to try the Experimenter. My LUSH is always sold out!)

Amika Nourishing Hair Mask. I haven't tried a ton of hair mask because my roots tend to lean more on the oily side, but every once in a while when I'm ends are looking a little dry and lifeless, I grab this mask and leave it on while I'm in the tub. After I rinse it out, it doesn't leave my hair feeling heavy with leftover product or make my roots really greasy. Smells great and works well for my hair type.

Lip Scrub. I'm a big lipstick wearer and though I attempt to keep my lips moisturized, I still struggle with chronically dry and flaky lips. I've tried things like the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and other types of lip exfoliants, but this is my favorite. It's VERY gritty and really scrubs the dead skin away. I usually use it at night and follow up with a healthy dose of vaseline (which is what works best for me for chapped lips) and head to bed.  So this product gets used about once a week in my house.

Peter Thomas Roth Masks. Sometimes your skin is just feeling a little lackluster and dry. For me, I notice it most when I'm applying foundation and it's not blending in as well with my skin, especially on and around my nose. But the Cucumber Gel Mask and Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (not pictured) does just the trick. The cucumber mask is extremely soothing and moisturizing and the pumpkin mask smooths off dead skin and smells like a pumpkin latte.

The Olive Branch Shower Gel. Are we catching on that I'm a pretty big LUSH fangirl? This is actually my normal, everyday body wash but it still feels like a treat when I use it. IT. SMELLS. AMAZING. Very unisex and not florally or fruity at all. Doesn't leave my skin dry and itchy. It's more expensive than shower gels I've purchased in the past, but a little goes a long way and the quality of product definitely makes it worth it to me.

Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion. This is something that's very new to me. Received it for Christmas from my mom, definitely thought it was a normal body wash until a few weeks ago when I actually took the time to read the bottle. It's basically lotion that you put on in the shower and then rinse off and go. As I've mentioned several times now I have sensitive, dry skin that's particularly bad in the winter. I'm also always in a rush and a little lazy, so this saves me the after shower lotion step. So far, seems pretty great and I'm always a fan of Nivea products when I need some serious hydration.

5 Things I'm Loving Right Now

Since I returned from my little (long) blogging break in the beginning of 2015 into the summer, I've struggled a bit with what to write about on this blog. My life has changed dramatically since I started blogging in 2012 and so has what I want this space to be. I'm no longer making a ton of DIYs for my home because I have an entire house full of things. I'm no longer setting monthly goals because that wasn't working with my life anymore and I was rarely striving towards them. I stopped documenting weekend adventures because, simply, I didn't feel like I was having them any longer. But, luckily, I'm still eating so this space has continued to show that! And I don't plan on stopping that anytime soon. But I thought it was time to think about what topics interest me, what am I doing every weekend, and what can I not stop thinking about. So I'm throwing in a new feature, which simply talks about 5 things that I'm currently fangirling over. Because, honestly, I want a space to talk about fun things! So here we go.

Five Things I'm Loving Right Now:

1. ASOS Backpack. (Sorry it's sold out!) In summer I'm all about the clutch bag but winter means big bags to me. I was eyeing up this backpack for a while and grabbed it on sale right before my birthday and I'm in love. It holds a ton without hurting my shoulders like larger bag tend to do. I've been using it nonstop for the past month and a half without any signs of wear. I'm a big fan.

2. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in the color Porcelain. I was looking for a tinted moisturizer for days when I'm either in a hurry, feeling lazy about my foundation, or when I'm just running to the supermarket. This checked all the boxes for me: not too shiny, SPF, good match for my skin tone, and just the right amount of coverage (which honestly isn't very much).

3. This Lipstick Combo: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso with Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain in 9 Rouge Laque over top of it. HOLY. CROW. I recently googled "Why don't liquid lipsticks stay on the center of my lips" because I felt like the only weirdo having that problem. I found this article explaining this combo and it really works! Still can't keep it looking fresh for as long as she describes, but definitely an entire night with drinks. After eating I like to check on it, especially if it's something greasy, but after a little touch up it still goes strong. Combining the two is pricey, not going to lie about that, but having a go-to red lipstick combo that I can wear without too much worry was worth it to me. I'll probably hold onto these two products for a while.

4. A Color Story App. As much as I've loved using VSCO Cam to do my mobile photo editing, A Beautiful Mess's A Color Story is damn good. It's the only photo editing app I've used since they released it and I've never used an app with so many filters that I wanted to use! It makes colors pop and whites feel crisp and true. I downloaded all the filters and just feel happily overwhelmed with all my options! If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth the time to explore it. And even the free filters and editing tools are awesome.

5. Silk scarves. Over the years I've collected quite a few vintage silk scarves that I usually wear on my head in the summertime. Cute, vintage-y, and keeps my hair that doesn't want to stay in a high ponytail off my neck. BUT I've been digging through them and trying to find other ways to incorporate them into my winter wardrobe. I've been tying them around my neck, like how you would wear a more traditional scarf. Or wearing them knot-side front, more in place of a statement necklace. I want to try to get more use out of them all-year round and also get myself out of wearing the same necklace with the same top all the time (a habit especially with work clothes).

What's in my Bag

Maybe I'm weird, but I love reading different people's "What's in my Bag" posts on blogs and Instagram. So I thought I would take a minute and post my own. Recently I've been loving large clutch bags and tons of lip products. I've also been carrying around this photo of my grandmother from 1934 when she was in her early '20s. I'm calling it a little good luck charm.

From left to right: Pineapple Compact Mirror (similar), Sunglasses (mine from the flea market, these are similar), Essie Nail Polish in Meet Me at Sunset, The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Blotting Tissues (Apparently they don't make these anymore, but the entire line is great), Standard Hair Tie, Benefit Lipstick in Rumor, MAC Pro Longwear Lipsticks in Prolong and So Very Good, MAC Prep + Prime Lip, MAC Pro Longwear Lip Liner in Kiss Me Quick, MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl, Kate Spade Wallet, a Photo of my Grandmother from 1934, Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes, Avon Mini Nail File, Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Tulip, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, Marc Jacobs Daisy Rollerball Perfume, Foldable Scissors, Rifle Paper Co Meow Phone Case, Polka Dot Clutch from Francesca's but not online, unfortunately.

Fall Favorites 2013

Fall is one of my favorite season to dress for. Some days are warm, some chilly. Layers are encouraged. Scarves are back in. And you don't need to worry about where you are going to put your peacoat when you go to a bar on the weekends. You know, the little things in life.

I guess it's pretty obviously that I'm feeling very black, white, tan, and gold this season, but that's pretty much every season recently. I read somewhere that black and white is "in" this season, which doesn't really make any sense to me since it's a classic, neutral color combination, but at least I can say I'm on trend. Black and white just always looks so good together, and it's fun to throw in different colored scarves and accessories. I also received my new iPhone in the mail, and I'm itching for one of these cases... still trying to decide...

1. Rifle Paper Co Rosa iPhone Case // 2. Paper Souce Donuts iPhone Case // 3. Rifle Paper Co Meow iPhone Case // 4.Bonfire Stories Tunic // 5. Anthropologie Floral Patchwork Scarf // 6. La Mer Bali Watch // 7. Jersey Cat-Printed Dress // 8. In the Stands Striped Shift Dress // 9. Caramel Corn Booties // 10. BonLook Alice Glasses in Pecan Toffee // 11. Geometric Necklace (no longer online, but the linked one is awesome too.) // 12. Tahitian Clutch.

Happy First Day of Summer! Here in Pennsylvania, it's a lovely 83 degree Friday and we are set up to have a weekend with more great weather. I just adore summer.

As with any changing of the seasons, I feel like I need to purchase new things. New bathing suits, sunnies, handbags, etc. It's a pretty bad habit to have, but with so much cute stuff out in the world, how can you not want to replace everything you own every season (or week)?

Tim and I have things planned for this summer. A lot of relaxing, a week down the shore, a few weekend adventures, and tons of walks to breakfast, Chinese food, and drinks. Celebrate your weekend!

PS: Anyone looking to buy me a gift? I will take anything in this collage! Ha!
