Best of 2013

As Tim and I prepare for a small New Years Eve gathering we are hosting at our apartment, I thought I would share some of my favorite posts from 2013. This year has been a true blast. I've grown, this blog has grown, and I couldn't ask for anything more.

Best Recipe: Funfetti Cookies. This has to be one of my favorite cookies of all time. I actually just made these as Christmas cookies with red and green sprinkles!

Most Useful DIY: Chalkboard Spice Jars. Whenever I'm cooking or baking, I open my spice drawer and am so happy I decided to make these jars. So helpful and I love having everything consistent and easy to change if I need to.

Favorite Cocktail: Apple Cider Margaritas. I hope that in 2014, I continue to create some yummy cocktails. I made these margaritas for a recent Christmas party and they were such a hit! These are also a great I-need-to-relax-after-work cocktail.

Best Home Decor DIY: Our Modern TV Stand. So listen, I didn't create this (Tim did) or even think it up, but I love this piece of furniture. It offers us a ton of storage, it fits our style, and Tim put it together, which makes it special to me.

Best Cupcake Recipe: Snickerdoodle Cupcakes. I had to give cupcakes their own category. And even though I rarely eat most of the cupcakes I make, I made sure to save a couple of these to savor.

Favorite DIY: Confetti Votive Candle Holders. These are just such a fun, festive, easy DIY. I think these might be my favorite thing I created in 2013.

That's it! I wish you all a happy New Year. Make sure there's confetti and champagne cocktails!

Top 12 of 2012

So, starting this blog has been an exciting new adventure for me (I'll be blogging about this subject later!) This has been an exciting year for me, and I am very gratefully for the life I currently have. Keeping up with this blog has been a challenge for me, but I do love it. Here are 12 of my favorite posts from 2012!

1. Still loving these framed photostrips that T and I have taken over the years. So happy that I've saved these and finally have a way to display them!

2. These snickerdoodles are so completely addicting. One of those things that you can't believe actually came out of your own oven.

3. Our kitties are still enjoying the furniture piece that houses their litterbox. I'm so glad that T and I worked on this together.

4. For anyone looking for fantastic advice on blogging and getting your blog together, A Beautiful Mess offers this lovely e-course called Blog Love. I wrote a little review about it.

5. These applesauce cupcakes are amazing. Out of all the different cupcakes I make, these have to be my all-time fav.

6. As I start to get more and more into wine, I'm still loving these etched wine glasses. They aren't perfect, but I still love the effect.

7. Still loving some of the vintage items that have been given to me by our families. It's very exciting that we really use these things almost every day!

8. I love this Caturday photo!

9. This cranberry apple pie recipe really came together! A perfect dessert for breakfast!

10. I opened an Unusually Lovely Etsy Shop! Currently I have washi tape, wreaths, and wine glasses for sale and I'm hoping to list a bunch of different stuff in the new year.

11. Still loving these felt ornaments! Already thinking about who I can make them for next Christmas!

12. This was the first year that T and I decorated our first Christmas tree. It was such a lovely experience and I can't wait to spend more and more Christmases with this guy. :)

Best of November

November held some warm fall days, and our first semi-major snow. The whole month feels like a blur to tell you the truth, and when I look back on it I only think about a few things.

Purchased my first major furniture piece. Rediscovered my love for tea. Learned to like wine. Thanksgiving. First craft show. New TV. Winter. Etsy orders. I feel like that sums up my November nicely.

Here are a couple of my favorite posts from November:

I put together a little post about dealing with stress. With craft show number 2 coming up, it's starting to get a little stressful up in here again. Nothing I can't handle though!

I successfully made it through my first craft show selling handmade items! And actually made a little money! As silly as it is, I've wanted to sell handmade stuff for so long and never thought I could do it, never thought anyone would want what I make it. And I'm truly glad I've come this far... Here are some of the things I've learned from craft show numer1.

Baking has very much become a hobby of mine, and I've realized this month that I need to be baking more pies. Super simple, and I love them. More than anything else I bake (I rarely eat cupcakes, except applesauce, yum). And those pumpkin seeds, also easy and satisfying.

And that's it. That's my November. As much as I dislike the winter cold, I do love Christmastime and with this being the first Christmas that T&I are living together, expect quite a bit of holiday love on this blog. I'm excited to decorate! (Just need to buy/thrift some decorations...)

Best of October

Life has been chugging along. October has been filled with ups and downs. Creatively it's been good. I've signed up for two craft shows, been buzzing with creative energy, and updated my Etsy shop to include some of my handmade items. Mentally, I've been bouncing around a lot, trying to figure out what I want out of life and how I can get there. Like I said, ups and downs.

Here are some of my favorite posts from October!

Finally got around to posting one of my favorite projects T & I have completed. Check out the before and after of our kitties' litter box.

A couple lovely DIY projects that I'm pretty much in love with. Making time for getting these projects done with ample light is looking to be the problem of the colder months, we will see.

Shop is open and full of handmade wreaths, chalkboard wine glasses, and some washi tape! Pretty excited about this.

Best of September

Fall is now in full swing and I'm realy enjoying spending chill nights out and about or cuddled up on the sofa wrapped in a blanket and socks. On the blog, September has been a little light. I took almost a week off being and for once feel like I have things for next month planned out, posts are all set a week (or at least a few days) a head of time and it's fun again. I don't want this to be a stressful thing and I'm happy that I completed the goal of getting ahead of the blog content, at least for now.

But here are some of my favorite posts from this month...

This was my first attempt at putting together a photo collage and I love the way it turned out. Most of this stuff is still on my mind...but now that it's really starting to cool off, I might need be in dire need of some of these things!

A few weeks ago, I talked about some of my favorite hand-me-down finds that my mom passed on to me when T and I moved in. For someone who is always on the hunt for thrift and flea market finds of vintage things, these items really mean a ton to me.

I shared a recipe for one of my favorite cupcakes, applesauce! Similar to a spice cake, these little cakes remind me of my childhood, eating this cake at family BBQs in the summer. I, who rarely eats the cupcakes I make, scarfed down several of these once I made them.

Recently, I've been DIYing my little heart out and loving it! Here are a few of the projects I've been working on around the apartment. They all came out so great, I'm reallyl thrilled.

And that's it! Like I said, a lighter month but I'm really happy with the progress I've made here. Next up, October!
