A Moving Update.

Although our (read:my) goal was to have things at home pretty much together before we left for vacation this week, I feel pretty good about what we have accomplished. TONS of boxes are empty and a dozen or so still remain, just being moved from spot to spot. But a great improvement from the day we moved in.  

Still on the hunt for the perfect bookshelf for our little cubby/nook area for all our books and movies and more bathroom storage before we can say we are box-free. We also have a bunch of shelves we (read:I) want to hang, art to put up, and a coffee table to build. We are getting there though!

That orange lamp is the one I wrote about here, and painted rug and slipcover (once I finish it) will be up on here in the upcoming month or so!

Pattern, What a Lovely Thing.

One of the most exciting things about moving for me is decorating and creating things for our new home. I am in love with patterns and prints, I love mixing bold patterns with the basic bones of a home. Our new apartment is littered with beautiful finishes and very industrial fixtures, and the idea of mixing my quirky prints with them is really a lovely challenge and I'm up for it!

Ahh, I love a good print. Any good patterns in your home?

Caturday

So I realized that I have yet to feature my kitties on here and I think today is a great day to do it. Moving them to our new home was relitively harmless and quick (just a little car sickness in the carrier), and then are MUCH happier now that they have room to run around and giant windows to stare out.

Audrey took the move fine; she's usually the one I worry about since she gets so upset about things.

Abbey was fine, as always.

The Big Day is Getting Closer

We move in three days. Just three days and they are really crawling along. Our plan has been thought out, van has been booked, cable and electric is turned on, and I'm slowly packing and going through things. Ikea shopping, finishing up the slipcover (hopefully), and baking up some cupcakes for my mom's birthday tonight. It's going to be a long night I think.

My plan is to make the most of this weekend. Saturday will be hectic for a while, but we have added the reward of having friends over after everything is moved in for a few drinks and putting furniture together. Sunday will be Tim and I time to put things where we want them and maybe do some home shopping, and I took Monday off as a personal alone day.

We are trying our best to celebrate the weekends that we have together.

Once we move, I will have a slew of new projects and cupcake recipes. Very excited to decorate, get settled, and live.
