March Finds

So I don't know if you could call these finds, since most of these were found in beautifully curated shop in South Philly but still wanted to share my fun stuff. If you've never been Era Atomica and you live anywhere near Philadelphia, you should probably go. Like tomorrow.

New ice bucket for our bar and two little pups!

Can't wait to find a little spot to display these!

Somehow, I found two more of those glass jars with the floral tops from this post AND a working alarm clock! It's adorable and I'm thrilled. Huzzah.

Spring Favorites

I tend to need a lot of change in my life to continue to be happy. Staying stagnant tends to get on my nerves and cause me to overthink my entire life. I'm over winter and at this point, we've had a few warm days to have me dreaming of sunny, warm spring day and chilly nights. Here's some of the things I'm eyeing up lately to keep me excited for the changing of the seasons.

1. Do Your Best Pendant, 2. Beach Blanket Bingo Two Piece Bikini, 3. Brandy Lace Oxfords, 4. Sugar Lip Treatment in Sugar Berry, 5. Dandelion Heart Dress, 6. Stay At Home Club Tote Bag, 7. Honeybadger Frames in Cardinal, 8. Set of Four Mini Planters.

Projects To Do

Now that the weather is starting to perk up, I'm getting excited to conquering a few projects that need to get worked on. Daylight savings happened over the weekend and I'll be thrilled to have some daylight when I get home from work to craft and photograph life.

This record cabinet, which my Dad pulled the speaker out of right after I bought it, has been on my to-do list since I bought it two years ago. Right now, it functions has our bar but I would love to recover the front and think about what it would look like with gray paint.

I hate these bar stools. I thought I liked them and Tim and I tend to battle between what I like and what's actually practical. Someday, we will have lovely bar stools but right now we have these. My plan is to paint them green and reupholster the seats with black and white fabric. They will be better!

My poor little vanity. I got this so long ago, I think I was in high school, and had such high hopes for it. I could never commit to what I wanted to do with it, but I'm thinking a charcoal gray and some pretty glass knobs. I was thinking about maybe getting a glass top cut for it too. That stool also needs some work...

Hooray for projects and nice weather to do them in!

Reflecting on Ten Things

I've been reflecting on things a bit lately, maybe you are tired of hearing about it (sorry!) Sometimes I just get in these moods. I wanted to put together a list of things I'm great at, things I'm not so great at, and things I want to get better at.

I've always been an advocate for constructive criticism and though I don't always take it well, I feel that everyone should be aware of what they are great at (yay!) and not so great at (sigh...) I think it takes a strong person to know their strengths and weaknesses, and I'm always about trying to make myself a stronger person.

10 Things I'm Awesome At:

  1. Cupcakes
  2. Justifying purchases
  3. Speaking my mind
  4. Knowing song lyrics
  5. Mixing colors
  6. Crafting (I don't really think "awesome" is the right word)
  7. Mario video games
  8. Meeting deadline
  9. Making lists
  10. Becoming obsessed with certain TV shows

10 Things I'm Awful At:

  1. Making small talk
  2. Painting furniture
  3. Waiting
  4. Traveling in groups larger than 4
  5. Cleaning my plate
  6. Not eating donuts
  7. Scooping the cat litterbox
  8. Being content
  9. Talking on the phone
  10. Anything dealing with cars.

10 Things I Want to Get Better At:

  1. Styling my hair
  2. Exercising
  3. Taking self portraits
  4. Picking out lipsticks
  5. Keeping up with cleaning
  6. Cooking
  7. Directions
  8. Decorating my house
  9. Following recipes
  10. Sewing

There is it. All out in the open!

Flea Market Successes.

Part of the fun about flea markets is, they're hit or miss. Sometimes you make out like a bandit, and sometimes your bags are still empty. This past weekend, my mom discovered an indoor flea market on 9th and Spring Garden (Philadelphia) that we knew we needed to check out. I was almost through the first go around with nothing when I found some gems.

Two little jars with these floral tops= in love. Having figured out what I want to do with them, but still loving them.

We also have been searching for the perfect drink glasses for our bar, and I found these little babies. Set of four for $15. I love how different they are. And then they're is this...

This might be one of my best finds recently. My mom always had a cedar chest in her bedroom and I always loved the way it smelled. Once we moved into our apartment and needed storage for bed linens, I started keeping an eye out for hope chests. I quickly realized that most hope chest are very large and clunky, very early American. When I found this one, it seemed the perfect size and very mid-century modern. It's my new love.
